“Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.”
Psalm 96:1-3 NIV
This verse seemed very fitting for our adventures on Tuesday. The Bible speaks on many occasions about worship. We as Christians are called to praise God with our actions and our voices. This morning, our group went to a poor village nearby called Quiscomotes. There, Becky Lawson and Angie McGuire held a women’s heath clinic. It became clear quite quickly that many of the women who attended had not heard basic health information and they received the message very well. After the clinic, our group spent time with the people of Quiscomotes, playing with the children, witnessing to the adults. Though I’m sure the mixture of Spanish and English, medical terms and children’s songs, and the constant spattering of rain made quite the ruckus, the sound could not have been more beautiful. It was the sound of friendship, happiness, and the gospel all in one.
Later in the day I was struck by another moment of “declaring his glory among the nations” as we sang songs of praise to the Lord in both English and Spanish. Our God is truly a God for all people, and nothing, not even a language barrier, can stop his people from gathering and glorifying him.
We are only three days into our trip, and God has already blessed us so much!
Please continue to keep us in your prayers!
